Welcome to the world famous Monza track, located just 30km north of Milan. The fastest track on the calendar welcomes the drivers of PSF1 for a 5th time, as we settle down for what promises to be a cracking race. A complete contrast to last week in Hungary, this track boasts plenty of overtaking spots, good weather and plenty of speed!
There is a few corners with fantastic overtaking opportunities, and plenty of DRS and slipstream locations, given the nature of the track. Heading down into turn 1 for the slowest corner on the track, and possibly the best overtaking spot, as you get in the slipstream around 3, towards 4 and 5, where another overtaking opportunity, if you’re brave! You’ll be looking for a good exit out of the second lesmo, to get the slipstream down to corners 8,9 and 10, which is the famous Ascari corner complex. Overtaking is possible here but you have to be 100% committed.
Lego still maintains an extremely healthy lead in the championship, sitting on top with a 39 point lead back to Sean. However, with Lego serving a race ban for incidents in Hungary, the title is opened wide open again if Sean can score good points in Italy. However, if Sean finishes 4th or lower, the title is automatically Lego’s. Looking further down the table, only 19 points separate the bottom 8. Leaping, Bugatti, tezza and Juan still sit in relegation, and will be hoping for season saving races in Italy.
Weather looks clear and dry as far as early reports can tell. No precipitation is really expected at any point of the weekend, so drivers are advised to focus on those dry runs and prepare for some hot temperatures, which will certainly effect the tyre life throughout the race.
That’s all for this week, but you can check out a hot lap for SeanISR-16 below!
